Positive Steroid Tests since 2000

With Charles Grant, Will Smith, Deuce McCallister, and the Williams Sisters of Minny all testing positive for a banned substance, I wanted to look at teams with the most positive tests, or admissions to taking steroids since the turn of the century.

San Diego Chargers: (4)

Stephen Cooper - LB: Tested positive for a banned stimulant in 2008, and was arrested with more than 1,000 doses of steroids in 2002 to "better help his chances of getting drafted"
Luis Castillo - DL: Tested positive at the combine, drafted by SD in the first round of the 2005 draft.
Andrew Pinnock - FB: 4 game suspension for taking a banned substance in a supplement in 2004.
Shawne Merriman - LB: Suspended for taking a "Tainted Supplement" after testing positive in 2006.

Atlanta Falcons: (4)

Matt Lehr - OL: Suspended 4 games for violating the steroid policy in 2006.
Keith Newman - LB: Suspended 4 games in 2003 for violating the steroid policy.
Ray Buchannon - DB: Suspended 4 games in 2002 for violating the steroid policy.
Grady Jackson - DT: In the new rash of positive tests, his name was also involved and is getting investigated for either steroid use, or a steroid masker.


Baltimore Ravens: (1)

Deion Sanders - CB: Tested positive before coming back to the NFL, said it was in medication for his ankle. 2005.

Buffalo Bills: (1)

Travis Henry - RB: Claimed to use a now banned substance (ephedra) prior to the NFL banning it. 2001.

Carolina Panthers: (9)

Todd Steussie - OT: Given Prescriptions for a banned substance in 2004, by Dr. James Shortt who is now spending over a year in prison for his wrongdoings.
Jeff Mitchell - C: Used HGH, got prescriptions from before mentioned Dr. James Shortt from 2003 - 2004.
Kevin Donnalley - OL: got prescriptions from Dr. James Shortt from 2003 - 2004.
Louis Williams - OL: given prescriptions for steroids from Dr. James Shortt from 2003 to 2004.
Wesley Walls - TE: Same as the prior 4, prescriptions from Dr. Shortt from 2003 - 2004.
Julius Peppers - DE: Suspended 4 games for violating league policy on steroids in 2002.
Brentson Buckner - DT: Suspended for 4 games in 2002 for testing positive for the same substance as Peppers, Ephedra.
Josh Taves - DL: and alleged costumor of steroids from the Bay Arena Labratory. 2002-2003.
John Milem - DE: Admitted to recieving steroids from Dr. James Shortt in 2002.

Obafemi Ayenbadejo - RB: Suspended 4 games for testing positive for steroids, sued the manufacturer. 2007.
Daimon Shelton - FB: Suspended 4 games for violating the steroid policy. 2002.
Henry Taylor - DL: in 2001, suspended 4 games for testing positive for a steroid related substance.

Cleveland Browns: (1)

Ryan Tucker - OL: In 2007 suspended for testing positive for steroids, allegedly to help an injury and his mental health state.

Kenny Peterson - DL: Suspended 4 games in 2007 after violating the leagues steroid policy.
Kenard Lang - DE: recieved a 6 game suspension for testing positive for steroids.
Todd Sauerbrun - P: Suspended 4 games in 2006 after testing positive for steroids.
Adrian Madise - WR: Was suspended 4 games in 2004 after a positive steroid test.
Lee Flowers - S: In 2004 was suspended 4 games after a positive steroid test.
Daryl Gardener - DL: In 2003 was found on a memo from the BALCO industries as a steroid customer.

Dimingo Graham - DL: In 2002, suspended 4 games for violating the steroid policy after a positive test.
Bryan Pittman - LS: In the new rash of positive tests, he was involved with a water pill that makes you lose weight, and can mask steroids and other drugs. He claims to have done everything right, and even has a prescription from his doctor saying it was for medical reasons.

Jacksonville Jaguars: (3)

Tim Couch - QB: In an attempt at a comeback in 2007, he was suspended 6 games after being ona a 'regimen' of steroids.
T.J. Slaughter - LB: Suspended 4 games in 2002 after testing positive.
Marcus Stroud - DT: Was suspended 4 games in 2007 after testing positive for steroids.

Kansas City Chiefs: (4)

John Welbourn - OL: In 2005 Suspended four games for steroids, and for 6 games in 2006.
Johnnie Morton - WR: 2002 through 2003 was allegedly taking THG from BALCO, tested positive in 2007 following a martial arts fight, one which he lost.
Lew Bush - LB: Suspended 4 games in 2002 for a positive steroids test.
Michael Cloud - RB: In 2002 tested positive for steroids and was suspended for four games, later sued the company, and reached a settlement.

St. Louis Rams: (1)

Scott Shanle - LB: Suspended for a positive steroid test.

Miami Dolphins: (4)

Sammy Morris - RB: Suspended 4 games in 2006 for violating the steroid policy.
Ricky Williams - RB: In 2005 tested positive for a steroid like substance.
David Boston - WR: in 2004 recieved a four game suspension for violating the leagues steroid policy.
J.J. Johnson - RB: Tested positive for steroids in 2000, but successfully appealed his suspension.

Minnesota Vikings: (5)

Pat Williams - DT: Part of the new scandal involving steroids and masking agents, being investigated.
Kevin Williams - DT: part of the new scandal as well, being investigated.
Ray Edwards - DE: Suspended 4 games in 2007 for testing positive for steroids, thus violating the NFL's steroid abuse policy.
Korey Stringer - OT: After dying of heat stroke, and the day he collapsed the team found a supplement containing Ephedra in his locker. In 2001.
Bryan Chamberlain - TE: Suspended four games in 2003 after testing positive for Ephedra.

New England Patriots: (1)

Rodney Harrison - S: Suspended 4 games in 2007 for violating steroid policy, recieved shipment of HGH prior to the superbowl.

New York Jets: (1)

Jesse Chatman - RB: Tested positive for a steroid masking agent, and was suspended 4 games.

New Orleans Saints: (4)

Deuce McCallister - RB: Part of the new scandal, tested positive for a masking agent.
Charles Grant - DE: Also Part of the new scandal, being investigated.
Will Smith - DE: Part of the new scandal, being investigated.
Hollis Thomas - DT: in 2006 was suspended 4 games for testing positive, he claims it was asthma medication which made him test positive.
Jamar Nesbit - OL: New scandal, accepting suspension from league, but suing company.

Jason Sehorn - S: Claimed in 2002 to use Ephedra even after the NFL banned it, only stopped once the NFL began testing for it.

Jarrod Cooper - DB: Suspended 4 games in 2007 for violation of the leagues steroid policy.
Dana Stubblefield - DL: Tested positive for THG, lied to federal agents about steroids and performance enhancing drugs in 2003.
Bill Romanowski - LB: Tested positive for THG, admitted to use of steroids and HGH in 2003.
Barret Robbins - OL: Tested positive for THG in 2003.
Chris Cooper - DL: Tested positive for THG in 2003.

Seattle Seahawks: (1)

Shawn Springs - CB: Tested positive in 2001, and was suspended 4 games.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: (2)

Luke Petitgout - OT: Suspended 4 games in 2008 for a violation of the steroid policy.
Rick Razzanno - FB: Suspended 4 games in 2005 for a violation of the steroid policy.

Tennessee Titans: (4)

Ryan Fowler - LB: In 2008 was thought to have gotten steroids from a steroid dealer who had killed himself, he denies taking steroids.
Chris Henry - RB: In 2007 was suspended four games for a positive steroid test, after a monster combine.
John Thornton - DT: In 2002, claimed to have used ephedra prior to its banning.
Josh Evans - DT: In 2000 was suspended for the season for a positive test.

Every team NOT listed has not had a single positive test, or a suspension from a prior positive test, since the turn of the century. Thanks to SignOnSanDiego for the information.

NFL Arrests in '08, since Preseason start.



Danny Ware - RB - New York Football Giants: Arrested for pedestrian under the influence, and pedestrian in the road way, he had a BAC of .15 and was standing in the road while cars had to go around him.



Jameel Cook - FB - Ex-Houston Texans: After being pulled over for not having a front liscense plate, police found 2 grams of marijuana in plastic baggies. Police said he had no proof of insurance or a liscense. He was arrested for marijuana possession, was released on $500 bond, and was later released by the Texans. His lawyer has since brought up the possibility of racial profiling.


Richard Colclough - CB - Ex-Carolina Panthers: Arrested for DWI at possibly the worst time he could have, the same day of the final NFL roster cuts, which he was a part of. Was arrested at around 2AM and spent 5 hours in jail before being released on $1000 bond.

Fred Taylor - RB - Jackonville Jaguars: Arrested, but not booked, for disorderly conduct outside of a Club in Miami around 4 AM.


Ed Johnson - DT - Ex-Indianapolis Colts: Arrested for speeding and marijuana possession, and was later waived by the Colts. He had a history of drug charges, sexual misconduct charges, and assault charges during his career at Penn State.




Tommy Kelly - DT - Oakland Raiders: Arrested for DUI then posted bail and was released, signed the richest contract ever for a DT.




Lawyer Malloy - S - Atlanta Falcons: Booked at 4:35AM for DUI, and was also charged with speeding. He blew a .14 while driving home from




Matt McCoy - LB - Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Arrested for DUI at 4:30AM and was released shortly after by the Bucs. He was released from jail on $500 bond. He swayed, smelled of alcohol, and had glazed eyes. He was pulled over for going the wrong way down the road, he refused a breathalyzer, but he was obviously tanked, just look at that mug shot.


Santonio Holmes - WR - Pittsburgh Steelers: Cited for Marijuana Possession, his car matched the discription of a car involved in a crime, and when pulled over the officer smelled burnt marijuana, and Santonio handed over multiple marijuana blunts. He was sat in a losing effort against the New York Giants shortly after.


Larry Johnson - RB - Kansas City Chiefs: Spit his drink in a girls face after she turned down a drink offer from him, its the fourth time he has been accused of hitting a woman in his 5 year careers, and he was charged with simple assault, as opposed to complex assault which is a lot harder to explain. He also threatened to kill her boyfriend, and tried to spit on her again as she was escorted out.


NFL arrests by team, since 2000

NFL arrests have become a problem, albeit an amusing problem, in the NFL today. You gotta love the NFL thugs that run the league, here is how teams fair in the amount of arrests. Also are the highlights... or the lowlights, of the teams arrests since 2000.

Arizona Cardinals

6 different players, 8 different situations.

Highlights: David Boston being arrested for Driving under the influence of Marijuana and cocaine, and numerous Domestic Violence Charges.

Atlanta Falcons
10 different players, 10 seperate incidents.


Highlights: 2 felony animal abuse charges, one from DT Jonathon Babineaux, and the well known Dogfighting which led to 23 months in jail for Mike Vick.

Baltimore Ravens

11 different players, 14 different incidents.



Highlights: Felony Murder Charges, in which Ray Lewis was not convicted, Federal Drug Charges when Jamal Lewis sold cocaine over the phone, he recieved four months in prison.

Buffalo Bills

8 players, 9 seperate incidents.

Travis Henry being charged with attempted sexual misconudct, with a 15 year old who claimed she was "Almost 18", and WR Charlie Rogers was arrested for making terror threats in the parking lot of a go-go club, he spit on, and punched, two cops in that incident.

Carolina Panthers

11 different players, 13 incidents

Highlights: Fred Lane arrested, and indicted, on drug and weapong charges, later shot and killed by his wife. Steve Smith was arrested on assault charges after fighting a teammate in the film room.

San Diego Chargers

11 players, 16 incidents

Highlights: Leonardo Carson kidnapped a woman during leave for his grandmothers funeral. When Steve Foley was stopped for DUI by an off-duty cop, the cop shot him 3 times and Foley yelled that the cop was trying to "end his career" Terrence Kiel was stopped for shipping cough syrup across teh country for "purple drank" and was also charged with urination in public in a seperate incident.

Chicago Bears

11 players, 17 incidents


Highlights: Cedric Benson's two "under the influence charges" in a month, Boating and Driving, one where he was maced. Tank Johnson's small army in his hosue which led to prison time. Ricky Manning Jr. making anti semetic rants while attacking a man at a Dennys.

Cincinnati Bengals

19 players, 27 events


Highlights: Chris Henry getting arrested on weapon charges (a luger) in his own jersey, and purchasing alcohol for three teenage girls in a seperate incident. A.J. Nicholson stealing electronics from a former FSU teammate. and a classic Boating under the influence for guard Eric Steinbach.

Cleveland Browns

13 players, 15 incidents
Highlights: Mike Sellers getting arrested with money wrapped cocaine and 3 burnt marijuana blunts. Mike Mason getting tasered for not leaving a club after closing time.

Dallas Cowboys

7 players, 7 incidents

Highlights: May seem like not many, but some serious jail time and charges. Dwayne Goodrich was charged with 2 counts of manslaughter after a hit and run and is serving 12 years in prison. The 2 who he killed were trying to save someone from a burning car. Peppi Zellner was arrested with possession of crack cocaine with intent to distribute. Terry Glenn peeing on the side of a restaurant got him a public intoxication charge.

Denver Broncos

18 players, 21 incidents

Highlights: Todd Sauerbrun assaulting a cabby, David Kircus beat up someone at a party and laid the classic "You don't know what I'm capable of" line down. Bill Romanowski getting indicted on felony charges of fraudulently obtaining prescription drugs. Karl Paymah passing out with his car running and getting a DUI.

Detroit Lions

7 players, 7 incidents

Highlights: Ross Verba arrested for writing bad checks, Kalvin Pearson arrested for felony battery on a pregnant woman when he choked a woman who had his child.

Green Bay Packers

9 Players, 10 Incidents


Highlights: Mark Chmura was accused of having sexual relations at a prom party with his 17 year old baby sitter. Najeh Davenport was accused of shitting in a girls hamper. Johnny Jolly got arrested with enough codeine to knock out a full grown elephant.

Houston Texans

8 Players, 8 Incidents

Highlights: Chester Pitts with a felony charge of evading arrest, and Fred Weary for getting tasered at a traffic stop for resisting arrest.

Indianapolis Colts

13 Players, 15 Incidents

Highlights: Dominic Rhodes got pulled over for DUI and urinated his pants in the back of the police car... He blew ONLY a .09, BARELY over the legal limit. Kenton Keith was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and Public Intoxication and was yelling at the cops about how he played for the Colts.

Jacksonville Jaguars

21 Players, 20 Incidents

Highlights: Stacey Mack was arrested for asking an undercover officer for oral sex, Chris Naeole was tasered while resisting arrest after getting stopped for some disorderly conduct, Khalif Barnes was arrested for DUI and called the officer a KKK member, and a Nazi Devil. Richard Collier fell asleep at a McDonalds drive through and was charged with DUI. Matt Jones was arrested on a felony cocaine charge.

Kansas City Chiefs

14 Players, 23 incidents

Highlights: Tamarick Vanover aided and abetted sale of stolen vehicle that crossed state lines. Kicker Lawrence Tynes got a felony substantial battery charge after he broke a bouncers nose in Wisconsin... a kicker.

Miami Dolphins

16 Players, 19 incidents



Highlights: Quintin Williams was drag-racing while drunk and got pulled over going 111 MPH, but not to be outdone, Ricky Williams was stopped for going 126 MPH. FB Reagan "Im the Juggarnaut, Bitch!" Mauai was charged with assault and battery when he punched a man in the face, knocking him out cold, because he "looked at him wrong". Ben Kelly was charged with DUI because he hit a cop car, which was parked.

Minnesota Vikings

20 Players, 31 Incidents

Highlights: Bryant McKinnie is charged with aggravated battery after he swung a pole and hit a bouncer. Cedric Griffen was charged with Disorderly Conduct because his pants were sagging and he wouldnt pull them up. Dwight Smith was charged with indecent conduct because he was having sexual encounters in a stairwell with a lady. Koren Robinson led police on a high speed police chase and spent 90 days in jail. Smoot, McKinnie, and Culpepper were all charged with various things revolving around the "Love Boat" scandal, including Smoot performing Lewd acts with a stripper. Kenny Mixon had 3 DUI's in 16 months.

New York Giants

9 Players, 9 Incidents

Highlights: Geoffrey Pope was charged after allegedly hitting a man on the head with a champagne bottle. Adrian "Awesome?" Awasom was charged with an awesome charged of "EXTREME! DUI!"

New York Jets

6 Players, 6 Incidents

Highlights: Justin Miller took a punch at a man, and instead missed and hit a women, then ran from police.

New England Patriots

10 Players, 11 Incidents

Highlights: Nick Kazcur got busted with prescription painkillers, and narced out the dealer he got them from. Ty Law led police on a car, and foot chase. Kenyatta Jones assaulted his roommate with scalding hot water. Adrian Klemm punched through a motorist windshield.

New Orleans Saints

12 Players, 12 Incidents

Highlights: Albert Connell was accused of stealing over $4,000 dollars from Deuce McCallister, later returned it. Charles Grant has been indicted on charges of involuntary manslaughter, when a pregnant woman was killed by a stray bullett after a fight that left him cut in the neck by a knife.

Oakland Raiders

7 Players, 11 Incidents

Highlights: Sebastion Janikowski was caught with date rape pills, Darrell Russell was accused of giving two girls date rape drugs.

Philadelphia Eagles

6 Players, 6 Incidents

Highlights: Damon Moore was charged with abandoning a puppy, and Dhani Jones was charged with failure to obey a lawful command.... for.... refusing to stop dancing outside a club. Come on man, keep that inside the club!

Pittsburgh Steelers

10 Players, 13 Incidents


Highlights: Richard Seigler was arrested for running a prostitution ring. He was a pimp, literally. Plaxico Burress was charged with carrying a Corona around in Cleveland, and didn't go to court.

San Francisco 49er's

7 Players, 6 Incidents

Highlights: Jeremy Newberry was arrested for hitting a woman on a boat, dropped. Mike Rumph was arrested for DUI shortly after being drafted in the first round of the draft.

Seattle Seahawks

8 Players, 10 Incidents


Highlights: A lot of DUI's, Wayne Hunter was having a sports argument with his brother and it got so heated he broke a table and glasses, after he put his brother in a car, he came back into the bar and when someone was looking at him he asked what he was looking at, when the guy said "nothing" he picked the man up and threw him on a shuffleboard table.

St. Louis Rams

4 Players, 5 incidents.

Highlights: 4 out of 5 incidents after 2006, Leonard Little got ANOTHER DUI after killing innocent women while drinking and driving years before.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

12 Players, 14 Incidents

Highlights: Michael Pittman used his car to ram another car containing his 2 year old son. Alex Ardley got a DUI after crashing Deuce McAllisters SUV into a house. Dwight Smith who has also been arrested on 2 other teams was arrested for pulling a pellet gun on 2 fans who came to his window when he was at McDonalds.

Tennessee Titans

15 players, 19 incidents


Highlights: Samari Rolle domestic assault charges with his wife... on Valentines Day. Happy Valentines Day. Pacman Jones with his billion charges, including biting a cop, and being in an incident that left a man paralyzed.

Washington Redskins

7 players, 8 incidents.


Highlights: Nothing, the Washington Redskins are fucking boring.

Coaching Staff

GM: Bill Polian: Jay Glazer reported that he assaulted a member of Jets front office.

Head Coach: Bill Belichick: Assaulted a camera man after a Jets game, fined 250,000 for his involvement in the 'spygate' scandal for filming, and using the film, of other teams defensive signals. Was listed as the 'other man' in a divorce settlement.

Assistant Coach: Richie Anderson: Arrested for soliciting a prostitute.

Assistant Coach: Joe Cullen: Arrested for DUI, and indecent exposure, was naked in a Wendys drivethrough.

Head Scout: Marvin Lewis: Brings in many thugs to the Bengals

Cheerleaders: Panthers cheerleaders: 2 were arrested for assault in a bar bathroom.

Towel Boys: Andy Reid's sons: Multiple drug charges, and DUI charges.
Team Agent: Leigh Steinberg: Two DUI charges
Team Doctor: Dr. James Shortt: Sent to over a year in prison for prescribing steroids to players, and for the death of a Minnesota woman

NFL All-Thug Team: Defense

Defense

DE: Leonard Little - Rams: blew a .19 after a night of drinking after crashing and killing a girl. Spent 90 days in jail for involuntary manslaughter. 6 years later he was arrested for a felony DUI, but was dropped and he got speeding charges.

DT: Albert Haynesworth - Titans: Stomped on the face of C - Andre Gurode of the Cowboys and recieved the longest suspension for an on field incident.

DT: Tank Johnson - Bears/Cowboys: Spent time in prison for gun charges. Charged with resisting arrest and and aggravated assault and was maced by an officer after arguing. Was arrested for 'slight DUI' and was cut by the bears, was later found to be under the legal limit. Was charged with 10 counts of possessing a weapon without the right state liscense I.D. He had enough ammo to take over a small country.

DE: Jared Allen - Chiefs/Vikings: 3 DUI's, 2 in 5 months. Was only suspended for 2 games despite that.

DE: Frostee Rucker - Bengals: 2 counts of spousal battery and vandalism, while at colorado state was charged with rape and indecent exposure. At the age of 13, was charged with sexual assault of an 11 year old.

LB: A.J. Nicholson - Bengals: Breaking into a house and stealing electronics, has been charged with DUI, possession of an unliscensed weapon, theft of electronics, sexual assault, and domestic violence.

LB: Ray Lewis - Ravens: Brought in for questioning in the stabbing death of two people, lied to the police saying he didn't know the other suspects. The driver of his limo stated that he saw Ray strike one of the deceased. He was indicted for murder and aggravated assault, but all charges were dropped.

LB: Odell Thurman - Bengals: Violation of the substance abuse policy three times and suspended a total of 32 NFL games. He was falsly charged for kicking a kid in the face, and recently was suspended indefinitly for another assault charge.

CB: Adam 'Pacman' Jones - Titans/Cowboys: Like Chris Henry, too many charges to list. Including his Caddy getting seized in a drug bust, 'making it rain' in a club, which led to a man getting paralyzed after getting shot, and biting a cop after getting stopped and charged with possession of marijuana. An all around NFL Bad Ass. Finally given another chance to play and he has all but blown it after an altercation involving alcohol with his team issued body guard. He is currently in rehab, and likely will get ANOTHER chance in the NFL.

S: Terrence Keil - Chargers: Cited for public urination, was arrested for shipping cough syrup across the country to make 'purple drank'. Recently died in a car accident in which he was drinking prior to, R.I.P.

S: Dwight Smith - Vikings/Lions: Aggravated assault after a road rage incident with a gun. Arrested for possession of marijuana, and charged with indecent exposure during a sexual excursion with a woman in a stairwell.

CB: Fred Smoot - Redskins/Vikings/Redskins: Charged with using a sex toy on female dancers during the 'love boat' scandal in Minnesota. Plead guilty to public nuisance on a watercraft, and disorderly conduct.

P: Todd Sauerbrun - Broncos/Patriots: Suspended 4 games for steroids, arrested for DUI, and was arrested after an assault with a taxi cab driver

KOS: Lawrence Tynes - Chiefs/Broncos: Arrested for assault when he broke the nose of a bouncer at a bar during training camp in Wisconsin.

NFL All-Thug Team: Offense


OFFENSE
QB: Michael Vick - Falcons: Gave a girl herpes under the alias of "Ron Mexico", was stopped with a water bottle containing a secret compartment that contained something that smelled like marijuana, he claimed it was to hide his jewelry and was never charged. He was also involved in this dog fighting ring that you may have heard about and is in jail for federal consipiracy charges, and gambling charges.

RB: Jamal Lewis - Ravens/Browns: Spent 3 months in prison because he tried to sell cocaine over the phone to a federal investigator.
RB: Travis Henry - Broncos/Titans: Was facing a year long suspension for numerous violations of the drug policy, just arrested for trafficing cocaine with multiple kilograms of cocaine, and threatened the life of a man and his family for taking money and drugs from him.

RB: Ricky Williams - Saints/Dolphins: Tested positive for marijuana twice, and retired before the season a few years ago to go to india and go on a spiritual quest and studied hallistic medicine in California. He went to the CFL and played for the Toronto Argonauts before coming back to the NFL last season.

FB: Reagan "The Juggernaut, Bitch!" Mauia - Dolphins: Reagan was charged with assault when he punched a man outside a club for 'looking at him the wrong way'

WR: Chris Henry - Bengals: Numerous, numerous, numerous assault, drug, drinking, DUI charges. An all around NFL Bad Ass with too many charges to list here. Recently off of another 4 game suspension, back with the Bengals.
